April 1, 2023, revised ready reckoner rates will be implemented in Maharashtra. As a result, property registrations doubled in Maharashtra. Across the state, around 18,538 properties were registered on March 28, whereas 20,000 properties were registered on March 29. On a casual day, daily property registrations are 8000-9000. The department expects more registrations on Friday, March 31, 2023. Costly property has helped the state cross Rs 40,000 crore by 2022-2023. The increase in property registration is similar to the rush at the end of a sale. Everyone is trying to take advantage of the final opportunity to purchase, with the hope of getting the best deal possible. In this case, it’s the chance to set the registration rates before the new rates come into effect. Till March 30, 2023, the department collected Rs 42,000 crore. In the past eight years, ready reckoner rates in Maharashtra have shot up by more than 50%. Ready reckoner rate is the minimum rate at which a particular property can be sold or leased. It is determined by the government and is revised every year. Department of Registration and Stamps officials informed, “Though we have requested the state government to keep the RR rates unchanged, we are not sure if our request will be accepted. However, we will continue to make every effort to ensure that the rates remain the same. "
